sahar Ragab

The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo organized a seminar titled “Kashmir Under Siege” to observe the “Kashmir Black Day” today.

The event began with recitation from the Holy Quran and playing of national anthems of Pakistan and Egypt, followed by reading out of the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Panelists, representing Egyptian intelligentsia, think tank community and academia in their presentations underscored that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is a disputed territory; and that Kashmir remains on the agenda of UNSC for more than seven-decades for a solution in accordance with the Council’s resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir. No country has the right to unilaterally change the disputed status of Kashmir, the Panelists added.

The Panelists stressed that Indian government’s fascist, anti-Kashmiri and anti-Muslim actions should be emphatically condemned by the international community. On Human Rights violations in IIOJK, the speakers said that such violations in IIOJK pose a grave humanitarian situation, requiring urgent attention of the world community.

Ambassador Sajid Bilal in his remarks paid tribute to Kashmiris for resiliently defying Indian subjugation with enormous sacrifices. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support to Kashmiris for their inalienable right to self-determination enshrined in UN Charter and relevant UNSC Resolutions. The international community must impress upon India to reverse its unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019, and peacefully resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the Ambassador stressed.

A large number of intellectuals, journalists, students and members of Pakistani and Kashmiri community attended the event.
