In a new step reflecting the depth of cultural relations between Egypt and China, Cairo hosted the inauguration ceremony of the “Oriental Exhibition Hall,” coinciding with the handover of the international version of the program “Moments of National Heritage” to the Egyptian side. The event witnessed prominent official participation from China’s Shandong Province, along with diplomats, media figures, and academics.
The ceremony was held as part of ongoing efforts to enhance cultural and media exchange between the two countries. It was attended by Lu Lan, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party Committee in Shandong, and He Xianzhuo, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shandong Radio and Television.
Their presence underscored the strategic importance the province places on cultural exchange as a key pathway to strengthening relations with the Arab world.
Shandong Province, widely known as the birthplace of the renowned Chinese philosopher Confucius, is considered one of China’s most prominent cultural centers. Its participation in the event added symbolic significance, highlighting the deep historical and cultural connections between Egyptian and Chinese civilizations.
A central highlight of the event was the program “Moments of National Heritage,” which presents visual documentation of Chinese heritage through a modern approach that blends historical storytelling with contemporary artistic techniques. The delivery of its international version marked an important step toward expanding media cooperation, enabling the program to be broadcast across Egyptian and Arab platforms and introducing audiences to the richness of Chinese cultural heritage.
The inauguration of the “Oriental Exhibition Hall” aims to serve as a permanent cultural platform dedicated to showcasing Chinese culture and providing Egyptian and Arab audiences with opportunities to explore various aspects of Chinese heritage. The initiative is expected to strengthen mutual understanding and build lasting bridges of cultural communication.

The event brought together a diverse group of attendees representing diplomatic missions, media institutions, and academic organizations. Among them were Ma Qiang, Executive Vice President of the Egyptian-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association, and Zhang Yi, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo, in addition to several Egyptian media personalities.
Participants emphasized that the launch of the “Oriental Exhibition Hall” represents a new starting point for expanding cultural and media cooperation between Egypt and China, with aspirations to implement joint projects that highlight civilizational heritage and enhance its presence on the international stage
