In a significant diplomatic step that reflects renewed international momentum toward ending the Middle East conflict, China and France reaffirmed in a joint statement their firm position on the need to create conducive conditions for reviving and implementing the “two-state solution,” considering it the only viable path to achieving the legitimate aspirations of Palestinians and Israelis for a just and lasting peace.
The two countries welcomed the adoption of the “New York Declaration” on 12 September 2025, which marked a turning point in international efforts to reinforce the vision of a two-state solution. China also reiterated its recognition of the State of Palestine since 1988, while welcoming France’s official recognition of the State of Palestine on 22 September 2025—a move observers have described as a significant milestone in European diplomacy.
On the situation in Gaza, Beijing and Paris expressed their approval of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas on 9 October 2025, calling on all parties to immediately fulfill their commitments and refrain from any actions that could jeopardize the cessation of hostilities. The two sides also condemned all violations of international humanitarian law, including acts of terrorism and indiscriminate attacks against civilians.
The Chinese and French presidents stressed the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip swiftly, safely, sustainably, and without obstacles, under the supervision of the United Nations, in response to the dire humanitarian conditions in the enclave.
The statement also underscored the need to continue providing material and financial support to the Palestinian National Authority, commending the efforts of the members of the “Emergency Coalition for the Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority.” France further expressed appreciation for the assistance China has extended to the Palestinian people.
This growing Chinese-French convergence sends a strong message to the international community about the importance of collective action to relaunch a genuine peace process and lay solid foundations for a comprehensive solution that can restore stability to the region.
