The Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Sen, described the Eid celebration as a “celebration marred by sadness,” expressing the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip for eight months.
However, the celebration held on his residence in the city of Giza overlooking the Nile River on the second day of Eid al-Adha, where he received hundreds of Palestinian families residing in Egypt, came to alleviate the worries and suffering of the Palestinians fleeing the flames of battles in Gaza.
Organizing of those ceremony was not strange to the important humanitarian role played by the Turkish ambassador in sharing the joy of more than 1500 Palestinians of different ages, but with this humanitarian gesture that was successful in its timing, the Turkish ambassador was able to restore the smile and joy to the faces of the old and the young, as the Turkish embassy’s reception of these families with all warmth and hospitality was able to draw joy and happiness on the lips of hundreds of children, women and youth with a temporary joy that was stolen from these distressed families since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on their Gaza Strip several months ago, and to comfort the feelings of our displaced families from the horror of the Israeli aggression on their lands.
Since Egypt and Turkey announced raising the level of diplomatic representation between them to the level of ambassadors at the beginning of a new era of Turkish-Egyptian relations that ended ten years of estrangement, and the announcement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry appointing Ambassador Mutlu as ambassador to Cairo, the series of achievements that he was able to provide in this short time did not stop, and he began to be known in Egyptian press and media circles as the “dynamo of diplomatic work in Egypt”.
The active ambassador, beloved by everyone who dealt with him, made extraordinary efforts, whether material or moral, to make the name of his country the talk of various circles in Cairo.
The ambassador participated in many important events related to his diplomatic work, in addition to his interaction with many occasions of an economic nature, such as supporting the Turkish industry in Egypt and highlighting its role in providing new job opportunities and achieving economic development.
The ambassador’s activity extended to the tourism sector by visiting Turkish hotels and actively participating in tourism conferences. The ambassador’s work areas did not stop at that point, but he also participates in supporting sports and social activities.
Finally, the humanitarian aspect was clearly evident in the Eid celebration by receiving more than 1,500 Palestinian families present in the country.
The embassy’s celebration program included a speech by the ambassador to the Palestinian families, and wishing for an end to the aggression on their country. Hot meals were provided to the attendees, in addition to distributing bags containing a number of dry grains called “Ramadan bags” in Egypt.
It also distributed bags containing sacrificial meat, after the embassy, in cooperation with a number of Turkish civil society organizations, slaughtered 9 sacrificial animals to contribute to distributing them to Palestinian families in Egypt, in addition to providing toys and gifts to children.
The surprise for the Palestinian families was the distribution of a cash “Eidiya” to each family present at the celebration. Thus, the celebration program contributed greatly to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinians by bringing them joy on this occasion that every Muslim cherishes.
With this celebration, it contributed to alleviating some of their suffering on these blessed days, as distributing sacrificial animals is one of the rituals of Islam and a Sunnah of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Whoever does so draws closer to God and his reward and recompense are doubled.
