Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, has announced the appointment of Leah Nakazwe Kooma as Chief Executive Officer of its Zambia operations, effective April 1, 2026.
Kooma brings over two decades of experience across telecommunications, financial services, and media, reinforcing the company’s strategic commitment to expanding digital infrastructure and strengthening its leadership in Zambia and the wider region.
According to Wellington Makamure, her appointment comes at a pivotal moment:
“Leah’s leadership will be instrumental in driving the next phase of growth for Liquid Zambia and the broader region.”
A Proven Leadership Track Record
Kooma began her career at Barclays Bank before moving into telecommunications with Celtel, gaining experience across multiple African markets.
In 2016, she joined the founding team of Vodafone Zambia, where she played a key role in launching the country’s first 4G LTE network as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer.
She later joined MultiChoice Zambia, serving as GOtv Commercial General Manager, Chief Customer Officer, and eventually Managing Director.
Vision for Growth and Innovation
Commenting on her appointment, Kooma expressed enthusiasm about joining the company and contributing to its continued growth. She emphasized that her background in sales, marketing, and customer service has equipped her with a deep understanding of customer needs and effective engagement strategies.
Her experience working across diverse cultures and industries has also strengthened her ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in dynamic business environments.
Academic and Professional Background
Kooma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and an MBA from the University of South Wales.
She also serves on several boards, including as Chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
