Global content creator Khaby Lame has been officially appointed as an ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), marking a significant milestone as momentum continues to build toward the first Olympic event ever hosted in Africa.
Lame joins a distinguished group of ambassadors, including actor Omar Sy, football star Kalidou Koulibaly, and Eva Neymar, highlighting the broad and cross-sector appeal of the Games beyond sports.
Appointed on March 26, 2026, in Dakar, Lame expressed pride in contributing to this historic event:
“This commitment reflects my desire to support young African talent. Dakar 2026 is an opportunity to showcase the best of Africa and inspire youth globally. Africa is not only resilient — it is a force to be reckoned with.”
Rising to global fame during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lame has become one of the most influential digital figures worldwide, with a massive following and a strong connection to young audiences — making him an ideal voice to promote the Games’ values and vision.
According to Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Dakar 2026 Organising Committee, Lame’s appointment reflects the growing global enthusiasm for the Games:
“Dakar 2026 continues to attract and unite influential voices committed to making this event a global success.”
Lame is expected to play an active role in promoting the Games, particularly among youth, participating in key events such as the Olympic torch tour across Senegal, and supporting inclusive initiatives aimed at engaging young people from various communities.
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026, bringing together approximately 2,700 athletes under the age of 17 from around the world, across three host sites: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly.
