Power steering issues force Tesla to recall thousands of vehicles

The world’s largest EV manufacturer is recalling more than 375,000 vehicles due to an issue with power steering

The recall is for certain 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

The agency said that the printed circuit board for the electronic power steering assist may become overstressed

This may result in a loss of power steering assist when the vehicle reaches a stop and then accelerates again

The loss of power could result in more effort being required to control the car by drivers, particularly at low speeds

It is believed that this could in turn lead to an increased risk of potential crashes or accidents involving the vehicles

In a statement Tesla said that it was not aware of any crashes, injuries, or deaths related to the issue

The electric vehicle maker headed by Elon Musk has released a free software update to address the issue.

Vehicle owners affected by the issue will be contacted by letter by 25th March but have been urged in the short-term to contact Tesla.
