Under the directives of President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman received today in Muscat Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, of the sisterly Egypt.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic to the Sultan of Oman and affirmed Egypt’s full support—leadership, government, and people—for the Sultanate during this delicate regional moment. He also conveyed the Egyptian leadership’s appreciation for the Sultan’s wisdom and his valued mediation efforts in support of security and stability in the region. The minister praised the Sultan’s prudent leadership and Oman’s exercise of the utmost restraint amid difficult regional circumstances in order to avoid further destabilization.
For his part, the Sultan of Oman asked that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to President El-Sisi, praising his wise and balanced policies. He expressed the Sultanate’s pride in Egypt’s principled positions and its support for the security and stability of the Gulf region, commending Egypt’s pivotal role in defending Arab national security and describing it as a pillar of stability in the region.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the foreign minister stressed during the meeting Egypt’s firm condemnation of the attacks on Omani territory, reiterating Egypt’s complete rejection of any justifications used to legitimize these blatant violations of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. He emphasized that the security of Oman and the Arab Gulf is an integral extension of Egypt’s national security.
The meeting also reviewed the current developments amid the dangerous pace of military escalation in the region. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination, cooperation, and joint action between Egypt and Oman to contain tensions, reduce escalation, and end the war, while relying on diplomatic solutions and prioritizing wisdom in order to prevent the expansion of confrontation and the region’s slide into widespread chaos.
Minister Abdelatty also underscored the importance of launching a serious Arab dialogue on security arrangements for the post-war phase.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq praised the distinguished path of bilateral relations, expressing his appreciation for the role of Egyptian companies in the modernization process led by His Majesty and his aspiration to further strengthen bilateral relations in a way that meets the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
