The Russian Embassy in Egypt has issued a sharply worded statement criticizing French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement to supply Ukraine with Rafale fighter jets and additional weaponry as part of Paris’ continued military support for Kyiv.
In its statement, the embassy accused France of “following the same path” by assisting what it described as the Kyiv government in its fight against Russia. The statement warned that Moscow would “not forgive” the use of French weapons should they be deployed against Russian civilians.
The embassy further asserted that Paris “will be held accountable for its attacks on our cities,” referring to what Russia claims are the humanitarian consequences of Western military support to Ukraine.
The statement highlights the growing tensions between Russia and France as the conflict in Ukraine continues, and as Western nations expand their military aid to Kyiv.
